Foreign Minister`s comment on Poland and Hungary`s territorial claims

The recent call by President of Poland Andrzej Duda concerning willingness «to fight for the return of the former Polish lands where our compatriots continue to be harassed and humiliated by the new Ukrainian leadership» as well as the statement of the prime minister of Hungary Victor Orbбn about the need to save the Hungarian population of Transcarpathia, which is experiencing «enormous humiliation and harassment by the actions of the Ukrainian government, which literally robs Hungarian population on this territory» in our opinion, are quite representative, taking into consideration the unceasing pro-European rhetoric of the current Ukrainian authorities.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Donetsk People`s Republic pays particular attention to the fact that these statements aim no longer just for restitution but for the direct territorial claims. The fact that the first persons of the states which border with Ukraine have publicly voiced such a position, clearly indicates the real perception of Ukraine in the eyes of its «European friends» — not just as a resource and labor appendage but a potential «donor» area. Ukraine is just not perceived as a full-fledged state by its western neighbors, but even on the contrary — it is perceived as a threat to the security of its own citizens.
We would like to believe that this fact will be able to sober Kiev leadership and force them to be guided primarily by the interests of their own people, while Ukraine, at least formally, still exists on the world map.
